The following is an email I received from Gregory Gore, the photographer, entitled “The Rule of 100″. He who was so distraught over the current condition of the world, he felt compelled to write and asked that we pass it along. It struck a chord with me so here it is:
When George Bush was re-elected I basically decided to go silent on politics. I decided that most people either don’t care about politics or have simply stopped paying attention to the important issues. In either case, I withdrew my voice out of a sense of hopelessness and despair.
Now I see so much going wrong in the world around us and feel so little inspiration for the candidates that have come forward for 2008 that I feel compelled to say something. Maybe my words will register somewhere and have a blowing in the wind effect. Maybe there are others who are thinking along the same lines. Maybe some conversations will get started on a national level about some of the issues that really matter to all of us. Read the rest of this entry »

After seeing Ken Burns documentary on World War II, and after seeing something last night on PBS about World War I, I started thinking about something. This something is a culmination of those two items plus all of the things I have seen lately and in the past about those wars and those generations.
In both World Wars people around the world, and I’m talking about the good guys, gave up a lot. In America, during WW2, there were rations, and blackouts, and War Bonds to help pay for the war. I don’t know as much about World War I, but people were afraid, as they should have been, and did whatever they could, or had to do, for the war effort.
I know I didn’t make up this concept but the idea of sacrifice in those times as compared to now, during the Iraq Occupation (or war) is astounding. After September 11, the Cheney Administration and George Bush, the figure head, told us to go about our business, go shopping, etc. Read the rest of this entry »

I will admit right off that I am no baseball expert. I’m not an export in any sport for that matter. But, I am a Red Sox fan and I am truly enjoying the post season on TBS. I don’t recall watching many sporting events on TBS. I noticed, after watching several games, not just the Sox, that I enjoy the commentators on TBS. I don’t know their names and didn’t bother to find out. But it doesn’t seem to be the usual mindless chatter of most commentators. They make good observations, seem fair and balanced, offer some decent background on players, previous games, seasons, etc. When I think about some of the ridiculous chatter I recall from other network broadcasts, I realize that I am not so annoyed.
Good Job, TBS.

The following links will bring you to a two different sites that will help you pick which candidate is best for your. It will ask you a series of questions and only takes a few minutes. At the end, it will tell you which candidate most agrees with YOUR point of view followed by a rating system. Try them both:

I wrote a blog entry regarding Star Parker’s appearance on “The View” on June 19, 2007; that’s almost 4 month’s ago. I usually check the stats for my web site on a semi-regular basis. On the stat page, I can see how many visitors I got, as well as things like what search words were used on various Internet search engines that helped users find my site.
I keep seeing the words “Star Parker on The View” as search criteria even after 4 months from her appearance and my not-so-flattering article about that appearance. I’m starting to think that the Star Parker’s camp (or maybe Star herself) is intentionally doing searches for her so that she shows up on some list of “most searched items” on the Internet.
I’m guessing that somehow this will help her ego and maybe her pocketbook (not sure). If it does help her pocketbook, it should help her bank roll her drug addition the next time it pops up (and she drops her bible in a puddle in an alleyway somewhere). I really can’t think of any other reason.

You’ve really got to be kidding me. There is a Tylenol commercial out now and the copy sounds like this: “I love making Tylenol”, and “I put love into this product”. Since when is making drugs similar to making an apple pie for your grandchildren.
I don’t think I understand the point of this commercial. I think they are trying to say that since they don’t make generic acetaminophen (which I’m not sure I believe) that they put all of their “love” into making “real” Tylenol.
Is anybody buying this crap?
